Smart Dining—Traditional French

Much like their first restaurant, the second from SPQR father-daughter duo Courtney and Chris Rupe favours timelessness and respect for traditional dining hospitality. Housed in the heritage former post office building at Three Lamps, the dining room, complete with white tablecloths and dotted with greenery, has a high-ceilinged grandeur that’s matched by formal but friendly service. Des Harris’ orthodox French menu runs the gamut of veal cordon bleu to tarte tatin, complemented by an almost entirely French wine list. A leather- and-marble-furnished brasserie and an outdoor courtyard adjoin the main dining room for a touch of rowdiness when the occasion calls. And, charmingly, there’s a florist set up in the foyer.

Rhubarb tarte tatin with vanilla crème brûlée.
