There are many reasons to visit Chur Bae — the delicious house coffee blend, the charming service, breakfast cocktails, the airy room dotted with plants — but our favourite reason is lunch. Breakfast covers the brunch classics, done right, but at lunch the menu extends to a range of Korean and Korean-inspired dishes — some permanent, others popping up as specials. Take the bibim-myeon of cold soba noodles with gochujang sauce, flecked with cucumber, nori and nuts, and capped with an egg yolk. Or you could opt for the wang don-ggas, comprising pork schnitzel drenched in a Korean demi-glace with a side of slaw and the sweetest little lump of rice. There’s a nice range of satisfying, shareable snack-sized things, too. If you want to do things properly, stick around longer, order a second coffee and take it all in.
