Rich coffee

Opposite Cazador Deli at the Balmoral end of Mt Eden, Gray’s is many things: a coffee shop, a vintage clothing and furniture store, a reseller of local goods and, hopefully one day very soon, a wine bar. A cosy bric-à-brac-esque collection of low chairs and tables sits among the wares, market-style, so you can have a coffee and a browse at the same time. There’s more seating in the dining room at the back, which is ideal for working from home without working at home, and down the stairs in the basement (past Polaroids on the wall of customers’ cute dogs) is Strangeways Store, a second-hand clothing shop. The coffee (and the mugs it’s served in) and cheese scrolls are excellent, too.
