Set away from the busyness of the city on a quiet street in the upper Symonds St area , Benedict’s is a lovely neighbourhood cafe, with plenty of space to spend your time over a long, leisurely brunch. (Head up the stairs on the left to dine on their mezzanine floor that overlooks the kitchen, or the courtyard out the back.) Being the sister cafe to the bakery Mibo, you’ll find a small selection of its pastries (croissants, especially), plus a full menu. When in Rome, do as the Romans do: get the bacon eggs Benedict with its thick, hand-cut bacon. There’s also the Peruvian chicken or octopus with jalapeño seaweed aioli for a more luxurious sort of meal.
