Lunch with a good cause.

Sid and Chand Sahrawat are hosting a luncheon raising money in support of the victims and families affected by the Christchurch mosque shooting.

The $250-a-head fundraising event will be hosted at Sid at the French Café in Eden Terrace on April 28, with all the proceeds going to Victim Support through hospitality charity DineAid on behalf of the Auckland hospitality industry. Victim Support’s Givealittle page has so far received nearly $7 million in donations.

Attendees will be presented with a six course menu curated specially for the event by Sid Sahrawat and his teams at Sidart , Cassia and Sid at The French Café.

The price includes champagne wine, beer and non-alcoholic beverages, all team members will donate their time with suppliers also lending their support.

Broadcaster Kerre McIvor will MC the luncheon, which includes a live and silent auction with hospitality packages donated by some of Auckland’s top chefs and restaurants including Amano , Baduzzi , Café Hanoi, Michael Meredith, Phil’s Kitchen, Saan, Tantalus Estate , and The Grove

“We were just so horrified at Friday’s events and to do nothing just doesn’t feel right to us, or to our teams and peers in the industry,” Sid Sahrawat said.

“We all want to help, and this is one small way we can show we are united in disbelief and to demonstrate solidarity with our brothers and sisters in Christchurch”.

The three-hour event will start at midday, with drinks and canapés in the courtyard and diners will be seated from 12.30pm.  Tickets can be purchased by emailing the restaurant on info@sidatthefrenchcafe.co.nz. The menu can be altered for some dietary requirements if asked ahead of time.
