Runner-up, Chef of the Year and Finalist, Restaurateur of the Year: Sid Sahrawat

Sid Sahrawat was our 2014 Chef of the Year, for his work at Sidart , which also won him the gong for Best Fine Dining. Now he’s opened Cassia as well, a very cool, informal, downtown eatery devoted to the flavours of India, presented with snazzy culinary panache. It’s terrific. And as if that wasn’t enough, he’s got Matthew Aitchison, formerly one of the stars of The French Café and Masu , running the floor.

Start with a gin and tonic: they’ve got half a dozen, each with a different gin matched to a different tonic. As well as à la carte, they do brilliant express business lunches, and they have not one but three private areas for groups.

A favourite dish: fennel brioche with spiced chicken, cucumber & almonds.
