Spectra might just be one of Auckland’s most unexpectedly delightful cafes. Yes, it’s a corporate cafe — and it owns that, unapologetically. Perched a few elevator rides up in the lobby of the PwC building, the space is sleek and striking, with floor-to-ceiling glass walls, exposed structural beams, and a view of the rooftop courtyard. Despite the businesslike setting, Spectra isn’t just for lawyers and accountants. The breakfasts are thoughtfully curated, plated imaginatively and often terrifically colourful, while the cabinet is crowded with great big bowls of seasonal salads, ready-to-eat sandwiches, and swanky-looking cakes. Suit or no suit, it’s all worth the elevator ride.
