Scarecrow

Part deli, part cafe, Scarecrow is a superb inner-city watering hole. You tend to leave with something you didn’t intend to buy, whether that’s a packet of pasta from the shelves that line the wall or a small box of chocolates from their own glass cabinet next to the cakes and salads. This makes the prospect of just dropping in for a coffee and something yummy to eat slightly dangerous, though we’d consider it worth the risk, especially for a hotpot pie or the hummus plate with roasted cauliflower. Happily, most things on the menu can be made gluten-free, making it an ideal place if you’re coeliac. (And if you’ve managed to leave without snacking on anything from the deli, you could pick up a family pie for dinner instead.)
