Beau Deli

Earlier this year, Beau, the Three Lamps restaurant and wine bar (and a Metro Top 50 Restaurant for 2024), expanded next door into the former Lord Ponsonby site. Anyone who has been to the restaurant will recognise the familiar brand of cheery service and seemingly simple food prepared with finesse at the new daytime cafe, Beau Deli. Swapping out the wine and bistro fare for excellent coffee and cabinets crowded with fresh pies, sandwiches and salads, plus tasty sweet treats, the place breathes new life into Ponsonby Rd’s lunch options. The space, designed by Eva Jenkin, strikes a balance, with sleek white tiles and a rounded industrial counter softened by warm wood accents and kete. Just across from the counter you’ll find a small selection of groceries (not quite essentials, but very tempting), highlighting Māori producers and artisanal treats. If you’re eating in, choose to perch at the sunny window bench or one of the (also sunny) pavement seats. This is a very, very easy place to linger in.
