What makes it special?: Think Cheers, inspired by Portland but set in Paris: a warm and welcoming bar/bistro where the food is exquisite and the drinks list endlessly rewarding.

Behind the scenes: Apero’s a new casual eatery owned and operated by ex-fine dining pros. So they know about standards — of cooking, drinks selection and service — and they’re dedicated to your relaxation and pleasure. The food is traditional French and precisely executed, with three new specials every day. The wine list is fascinating and always offers quirky new things to try, while the beer list ranges wonderfully widely. Ismo Koski, who’s in charge of the floor and the bar and will be known to many diners at the likes of Sidart , Merediths and The Grove , has found his spiritual home. To our delight, he’s sharing it.

A favourite dish: Tortellini made with a light gnocchi dough, mushroom farce, pine nuts and truffle.

What it offers: Shared-plate options / Good for vegetarians / Free-range chicken and/or pork / Bar / Craft beer selection
