This little corner of Auckland is surprisingly busy, bustling with office workers at Hello Mister next door and the calming presence of Asian pâtisserie Atelier Shu beside that. If you’re in the area and looking for a bite, we’d recommend nabbing a table at Simon & Lee. The menu there is peppered with flavourful things you actually want to eat — a bulgogi spaghetti, pepped up with nori, mushroom and pecorino; mahn du guk, a dumpling soup — plus, they remain one of the only Rocket Coffee accounts in Auckland. If you feel like sliding your hands into a pair of plastic gloves, the KFC Chicken Lunchbox, which comes on a metal tray like a school lunch, packs a big punch (especially if you opt for “Danger"-level spicy, which someone in the Metro team did, much to the concern of our server).
