FLOURISHING CAFE

Shop 4, 1784 Great North Rd, Avondale
An inauspicious location in a retail strip in Avondale (upside: plenty of parking) is made up for by the comfort food from this Cantonese classic. The whole blue cod is particularly excellent: delicately cooked with ginger and spring onion.

MR ZHOU’S DUMPLINGS

3130 Great North Rd, New Lynn
Eating here spurs both wonderful memories and feelings of joy: the owners started the legendary New Flavour before moving to this former takeaway. And lo, the place was instantly busy. The dumplings are as good as ever: lumpy and misshapen.
