Located across the road from the magnificent Onetangi Beach on Waiheke Island (not on a vineyard, for a change), Three Seven Two made a noticeable splash the year it opened, taking home Best Destination and Best New Restaurant at our 2019 awards. We love the tasty food, alongside a great utilisation of where it's situated: a large outdoor area will entice anyone who happens to come across it after a leisurely stroll by the water, and a generous bar area encourages a late-afternoon beer or wine.

The food here clearly takes inspiration from its surroundings, as the flavours are bright and fresh, and so, too, are the colours. While many of the main dishes stay the same, components get swapped in or not depending on the season, and there are always daily specials to look out for, too. Of course, this place shines best when summer decides to grace our side of the world — stracciatella cheese paired with pear, fennel, miso sunflower seeds and sunflower shoots are a perfect example of exactly the kind of food we’d love to be eating in the sun, while waves lap on the beach. It’s a very good life at Three Seven Two.
