Metro presents Townhouse Ramen at The Candy Shop

Metro presents Townhouse Ramen at The Candy Shop

Jun 15, 2021 Food

For the first time ever, Townhouse Ramen are in Auckland for just one night and tickets are on sale now.

There are only 60 in total, so slide in ASAP.

Here’s how the tickets will work: we have 30 on offer that will include your ramen of choice, a side dish, and dessert. These have three seating options (6pm, 6.30pm, 7pm), because we’ll be staggering diners, but feel free to take your time, hang around after, and order another drink up at the Candy Shop bar. (Meaning, you don’t have to immediately leave after 30 minutes!)

Then the other 30 tickets include just (1) bowl of ramen, where you can wander in from 7.30pm.

As mentioned, specially curated cocktails by Candy Shop and other drinks will be available for purchase. It’s gonna be fun!

Side dish
Karaage chicken, yuzu mayo

Main
Tori Paitan
Rich chicken broth, housemade noodles, chicken chashu, ajitama, menma, spring onion, nori
OR
Shoyu Ramen
Light chicken broth, soy sauce, housemade wholewheat noodles, pork chashu, ajitama, spinach, spring onion, nori
Dessert
Earl Grey mousse, dark chocolate, orange butter cream, blueberry compote.

Don’t know who Townhouse Ramen is? Wellington-based duo Kevin Ngadisastra and Louise Ing first started Townhouse Ramen in early 2019, doing secret dinner pop-ups that were nearly impossible to get into. Read more about their story here.

With limited seats a night (like, really limited), ramen lovers would have to comment on the account’s Instagram posts, cross their fingers and hope their names would be randomly picked. With Ngadisastra on the ramen and Ing on dessert, the two started picking up a dedicated, cultish fanbase. Things have grown as its popularity increased (especially collaborating with other small, local businesses), but the kaupapa of it all have always tended to quality over quantity.

With just Ngadisastra and Ing in the kitchen, and Metro and friends on front-of-house, we’re keeping the Auckland event to that same ethos: small, simple and delicious.
